What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy healing technique. Rei generally means universal, however Rei is sometimes interpreted to mean higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness.  Ki or Chi in Chinese means life energy. Ki is the non-physical energy used in many martial arts, by healers and in breathing exercises. Reiki, therefore, is known as universal life energy. It is believed when your Ki or life energy is low, or if there is a restriction or blockage in the flow of energy you may become ill.

Reiki treatments are generally performed with the client fully clothed and lying on a treatment table. The practitioner will gently lay their hands on and/or above the client in a series of various positions. The universal life energy is channeled, through the practitioner, to the client. The client subconsciously draws, to them, the amount and type of energy that they require.

Reiki treats the whole person, mind, body and spirit and provides healing energy that helps to restore normal energy flow, increase energy, promote self-healing, reduce stress and give a general sense of well-being.
